The NSW MSC was formed in early 2007 as a response to the increasing numbers of medical students and medical schools in NSW and the need for a cohesive and strong voice for medical students.  The Council represents all six medical schools in NSW with representatives nominated from each of the student bodies.

“The launch function will provide students from the medical schools in NSW with a unique opportunity to hear about the problems facing medical education and potentially their future pathway to becoming a medical practitioner.  The event also allows for students to network inter-University, which is a rare occasion” said Mr Kyle Bender, a medical student in the University of New South Wales medical program and PR Officer for the NSW MSC.

Ms Sarah Davies is one of the Council representatives and event organiser.  “We are pleased to have such a stellar line up of speakers who are committed to medical student issues.  Professor Bruce Robinson, Dean of Sydney University Medical School, Dr Simon Wilcock from the Institute of Medical Education and Training and Mr Michael Bonning, President of the Australian Medical Students Association will be able to offer a range of perspectives and challenging ideas for medical students of NSW”.

The response from medical students so far has also been very encouraging with a good turn out expected.

The event style will encourage open forum discussion on topics of concern to medical students who have increasing concerns about the future of the medical profession. 

All medical media are invited to attend the event which will be held at the Kerry Packer Auditorium, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital from 6.30pm.
