Doctors in Training (DITs) are those doctors who have graduated from medical school and are either an intern, resident or registrar in the hospital system.
AMA (NSW) supports DITs in a number of ways. AMA NSW established the Doctors in Training Committee (DITC), which is a reporting committee of AMA (NSW). It meets regularly to discuss issues that concern medical students and recent graduates. The committee reports to AMA (NSW) Council and is involved in a number of important professional issues. The DIT Councillor and chair of the committee is Dr Katherine Jeffrey.
AMA (NSW) runs a mentor program and organises a variety of educational and social events, including the DIT/Student Forums, Starting in Private Practice Workshops and the Careers Exhibition.
