Objectives as Councillor:
• Maintenance of independence of the profession
• Improvement in rural health services, critical not only to the people of rural NSW but also to the welfare of the existing rural practitioners.
• To address the exodus of practitioners from the public hospital system.
• Further reform in medical indemnity and tort law
• Risk management strategies with strong input from the profession to ensure patient and practitioner welfare.
Whilst representing anaesthetists I hope to bring a wider perspective to council, with anaesthetic practice providing interaction with many areas of medical practice on a regular basis and an interest in the intersection of medicine, ethics and the law.
Key current appointments and duties:
• Member of the Medico-legal Liaison Committee, a joint committee of the AMA and Law Society
• Vice-Chairman Australian Society of Anaesthetists NSW Committee of Management
• Currently undertaking Master of Health Law University of Sydney
