His goal last year (2006) was to increase membership and enhance benefits. The recent policy of free membership for first-year graduates has given young doctors great exposure to the AMA and all that it offers politically and personally.
Dr Steiner has been involved in changing the investment structure to enhance returns and is keen to development further commercial partnerships that will provide great benefits for members and an income stream for AMA (NSW).
On the political front, he is concerned about job substitution by group, “that would like to be doctors without doing any of the training”
“We need to ensure that patients get the best deal and the best treatment.”
