Objectives as Councillor:
To represent general practitioners and advocate for their patients on the AMA (NSW) Council.
To try to find a solution and remedy to the continual deskilling and disenfranchising of general practitioners by other self-interested groups.A general practitioner's worth in diagnostics and treatment, both in the hospital and aged care facility setting, is equal to, if not greater than other parties. However, perception of worth and remuneration are less in the eye of the government and private funds.
General practitioners are constantly referred to as the "linchpin" or "cornerstone" of medical care while meaningful recognition is eroded. I hope to work towards a remedy.
