The AMA’s (NSW) legal team provides extensive advice on a range of medico-legal matters such as subpoenas and privacy. Medico-legal officer Casey Atherton heads the team of paralegals and is responsible for reviewing and making detailed submissions on legislation affecting the medical profession and is a regular contributor to The NSW Doctor.

The medico-legal department also administers the AMA’s Duty Solicitor Referral Scheme which provides members with highly specialised legal advice from our affiliated firm; Tress Cox.
